Our Great freedom fighter Lokmanya Tilak revived the celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi after British Raj way back in 19th century. Ganesh Chaturthi is one such occasion which is celebrated with great enthusiasm all over India. However, don’t forget to stay safe on this Ganesh festival as it is the year of pandemic.

Key Highlights:

  • Ganesh festival is 10-day long commencement of celebrations, but to stay safe should be our priority.
  • For safety purpose, we can have temperature gun and pulse oximeter check at entry of our homes/ Pandals to be sure of unwelcome consequences.
  • Instead of having big 20 feet idols made up of Plaster of Paris we can have small Eco-friendly Idols up to 4 feet or 1.5 meters made up of alum or natural clay and using naturals colours are up of haldi, red sandal wood etc.

Ganesh festival is 10-day long celebration; thus, safety should be our primary concern this year. Stepping out of home while having safety in mind is must right from wearing mask, to washing/sanitizing hands regularly and social distancing. Also reducing the public gatherings by having small idols, community immersion tanks would add on to safety and reduce the risk.

Here are the 7 steps to stay safe on this Ganesh festival:

  • 1. Always wipe off your sanitized hands with tissues as sanitizers are inflammable:
  • Ganesh festival is 10-day long commencement of celebrations, but to stay safe should be our priority. First thing first would be washing your hands frequently to be safe. If you are keeping sanitizers at the entry of house, don’t forget to keep tissues to dry off your palm completely, because sanitizers are highly inflammable and it may catch fire when you take aarti with sanitizers on your palm. So, keeping tissue will minimize the risk and will be best for personal safety.

  • 2. Use Temperature gun and Pulse oximeter check on entrance of the premise/house
  • As all of us have to visit many places to worship Lord Ganesha, we need to stay safe while doing same. For safety we can have temperature gun and pulse oximeter check at entry of our house/ pandals to be sure of unwelcome consequences.

  • 3. Have eco-friendly, small and community Ganpati idols
  • Having biodegradable idols would be the best to save our mother nature. Instead of having big 20 feet idols made up of Plaster of Paris we can have small Eco-friendly idols up to 4 feet or 1.5 meters made up of alum or natural clay and using natural colours which are made up of haldi, red sandalwood etc. These idols get easily dissolved in water without harming the environment. Also, instead of having Ganpati idols at every place,we can have a combined community Ganpati idol at one place onlyso as to limit the number of pandals. This will limit the number of immersions later.

  • 4. Go for 3 E’s: E-darshan, E-payment for Ganesh Idols, E-donation
  • As every step of precaution adds on to your safety, so it is better to opt for online payment for Ganesh idols. This will lower the chance of you coming in contact with people. Try tominimize the offline mode of payment. Also, try to do E-darshan and E-donation for our beloved lord Ganpati. This will reduce the public gatherings. Shopping from malls can be avoided in this pandemic and can be done through online sites and online payment can be done for same.

  • 5. Maintain social distancing with Community Visarjan Tanks
  • It is a difficult moment for Ganesh devotees to bid Adieu to Bappa. But to perform visarjan without harming mother nature would make a happy visarjan for devotees and Lord Ganesh himself too. So, it is better to have small immersion tanks and asking all the community members to immerse their idols in the same would lower the risk of water pollution and reduce gathering of large number of people.

  • 6. Prepare home-made healthy sweets
  • As this is a year of pandemic, it is a bit risky to buy sweets from shops keeping our immunity in mind. Instead, why not make healthy sweets at home which will add to our health as a prasad? So, Bappa’s favourite modak can be made healthy by making variety of modaks like Dry-fruit modak, Dates-Coconut modak, Steamed (ukadiche) modak, Sugar-free modak at home.

  • 7. Prevention is better than cure
  • As the saying goes, the safest way to move out in this festive season is by boosting your immunity to lower the risk of getting infected. If our body is not protected internally i.e. if our immunity is low, even external protection like masks and sanitizers cannot protect us. Covident (RIM) acts as an internal mask for the entire respiratory system and it is advisable to keep a sachet of Covident always in our pockets to consume it anytime, anywhere. With Covident , you can be confident about your immunity.

This year Ganesh festival will be quite different due to the fear of corona virus. Thus, we should be extremely careful taking all the safety measures right from mask, temperature check, sanitizing hands to celebrating the Ganpati festival in best possible way to be sure of our own safety.Covident (RIM)-a blend of herbs, vitamins and nutraceuticals will act as your internal mask and definitely boost your immunity to take care of your health and safety. Are you ready to step out of your home in this festive occasion with confidence to worship your beloved Lord Ganesha???
